What a Week! πŸ’™

There was bound to be some nervousness about the phased return to school this week for children, parents and staff. As we prepared for an unprecedented phase in our school journey, a huge amount of thought, time and preparation went in to ensuring everything was ready. Our robust risk assessment carefully addressed every aspect of health and safety where control measures were put in place, to keep everyone safe.

So after all the preparation, how has it gone?!

We have absolutely loved having more children in the school and seeing their smiley faces. Our hearts have been full with children running in to school, laughing, playing, learning, exploring and adapting to their new way of schooling. It’s been great seeing all the bubbles of children in our virtual assemblies together. All the children have been incredible this week and we are so proud of how they have managed.

It’s been really nice to see our parents and carers on the gate each morning and afternoon – thank you for adhering to the social distancing guidance. You’ve been wonderful! Thank you for all your support.

The Government has now shared the difficulty that schools will have in reopening for children in other year groups. It has saddened us that we cannot bring all our pupils back, but with a maximum of 15 pupils per classroom now, it would not be possible. We continue to look for additional capacity and invite children in, where there is space. We are delighted that our Year 6 pupils have been able to return and have the opportunity for some closure to their time at OVPA. This is so important to them and the adults who have worked so closely with them.

We hope our pupils at home are enjoying the home-learning tasks that their teachers are setting. There are some lovely challenges and fun activities being shared too. Keep the excellent examples coming in to us – we love seeing them.

It goes without saying that our staff continue to be absolutely phenomenal. Cleaning & site staff, the kitchen staff, teaching and support staff, office staff, members of the leadership team, our Governors……everyone! I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved this week.

Time for everyone to have a well-deserved weekend and we can’t wait to do it all again on Monday.
