The pupils looked fabulous on Friday when they came to school dressed as teachers! In fact, many of them looked so much smarter than any of us…..and some of them looked just like us. The attention to detail, with personalised lanyards, arrays of pens in pockets and pairs of snazzy spectacles, was quite impressive.
In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the children were permitted to takeover some of the roles of the adults. We saw lessons planned and taught by the children, stories being read to the whole class and younger pupils, registers being taken and many admin tasks being completed. Some of our Year 6 pupils took on the roles of Teaching Assistants for the day and a group of very capable pupils led Funky Friday Assembly! The children were absolutely brilliant and took their areas of responsibility very seriously. We certainly have quite a few teachers in the making at OVPA. One child in Year 2 shared with me, that he wanted to be a Headteacher so he could tell everyone what to do and have his own office! I told him that he would be great and to go for it. Let’s hope that lots of our pupils are destined to join the teaching profession. As Rita Pierson reminds us….every child needs a champion!
