As part of our learning journey on Graffiti, pupils in Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity this week to work with two local street artists as part of our exploration into graffiti this term. Lawrence and Vicki, from Radiator Arts, delivered an exciting workshop in which the children developed their own personal graffiti tags. First, they started by creating vibrant backgrounds, choosing bright colour combinations and bold shapes. Once these were complete, the children were shown how to experiment with different letter formations, trying out a variety of styles such as bubble writing. They then painted their tried and tested designs on top of the backgrounds – I think you’ll agree, the results were magnificent.
Lawrence also showed us the beautiful mural he and his brother painted on Kings Road; their artistry has transformed it into a rainforest haven, with birds and waterfalls lining the walls. It’s definitely worth a visit if you haven’t seen it for yourself already.
On behalf of Upper Key Stage 2 I would like to say thank you to Lawrence and Vicki for such a fantastic experience. A great day was had by all!
