As we feel the heat of the hottest day, let’s look back on a bee-dazzling week………..
Children in years 3 and 4 were mesmerised by a visit from Michelle, the bee lady from The Little Honey Bee Company. Pupils have been investigating the decline of bees in the United Kingdom and were fascinated to learn more about this endangered species. The children tried on bee keepers outfits, learnt about hives, the life cycle of a bee and what we can do to protect them. They then all made a bees wax candle to take home. Michelle commented “ I was amazed by the depth of knowledge the children already had, and was blown away by their questioning and enthusiasm. What lovely children.”
Year 4 had a fantastic time at Kidzania in London. They bee-haved brilliantly. A big thank you to Emile Tambeh and the Hastings Opportunity Area for funding the trip. Also thank you to Mr Bula-Edge, Mrs Roberts, Mrs Noakes, Mrs Cramp and Miss Sheffield who ensured the children stayed safe. We have also been successful in gaining a grant from the Hastings Opportunity Area for further enrichment activities next year. This will go towards an outside pizza oven, a Lego club and more Fireflies places and equipment.
Our Year 6 Top 10 enjoyed making badges with us yesterday. They bee-came experts by the end of the session.
A massive thank you to the many parents who turned up to our 4+ Reception Evening. We heard that you loved walking through the Year 1 corridor to get to the reception classes. We agree, the corridor does look stunning with the coloured windows. It’s as if you are bee-neath the sea. Thank you to Miss Grace for making it look so special.
And finally……thank you to the huge number of parents and grandparents who attended the organised chaos – known as our Funky Friday Assembly. It was a bee-autiful occasion. Congratulations to Logan, TJ, Jack C, Jack H and Shakira on receiving Oscars.
Have a lovely weekend and bee careful in this heat.
