It is World Teachers’ Day this Saturday – an annual, worldwide event set up in 1994 to acknowledge and thank educators all over the world.
Just as Matilda had Ms. Honey, Harry had Dumbledore, and The Karate Kid had Mr. Miyagi, chances are that you, too, had a favourite teacher who helped you become the person you are today. Considering that teachers mould future generations, taking one day every year to say “thank you” is the least we can do for our fantastic staff at OVPA!
To help celebrate, we thought it would be fun to give the children the opportunity to come to school this Friday 4 October, dressed as a teacher (only if they would like to). So what does a teacher look like?! There are some interesting variations but on the whole, we agreed that teachers look smart, need safe and practical shoes, do not wear jeans or football tops and wear clothing warm enough for playground duty!
I believe that the children may have negotiated some ‘kids take over’ style activities with their teachers so let’s see what happens when the children are in charge. I’m looking forward to putting my feet up on Friday!
